I own three computers a tablet with 8.1 a laptop with 10 preview and a desktop with 8.1 they are all signed into the same live account. This morning i was unable to log into my desktop with it saying i was putting in the wrong password I checked for the simple things like caps and whatnot then to be safe i changed my password through my phone. when that didn't work i checked to see if i could log in on my laptop ( which i am currently using so yes it works) and my tablet which both logged in fine with the new password i made.

next i tried going in to safe mode and upon attempting to log in the system told me"the sign-in method you're trying to use isn't allowed. for more info, contact your network administrator." of course this is all home equipment and im the one who put together the network so thats not helping. I tried looking up this message and i got some stuff about messing with the group policy editor which i can't do since i can't log in.

so I finally tried pulling up a command prompt through uefi and when i got there is said that there are no administrator accounts on my desktop. and that is where i am stuck now. I have no idea how this happened and even less of an idea of what to do to fix it so help would be greatly appreciated. thank you.

I assume this form of logging into the machine requires and Internet connection as is updates over multiple machines, has the cable broke or the adapter? If the router just not giving it an IP? Just some simple possible problems.

network status showed connected at login screen I went ahead and tried a different network cable but that didn't help. one thought though could i have possibly blocked the microsoft live login servers with my hosts file? i put a public list on my system. if that is a possibility then i may try live booting linux and editing that hosts file.

its not network issues i tried it while unplugged from internet. the system actually will tell me i need to put it my last password (the new one) if i type in anything else it only tells me its incorrect when i put in the correct password. i tried live booting linux and hit a dead end with that its refusing to let me mount the drives for some reason.

I've got a crazy theory now though. the night before this started is when i put 10 on my laptop and i did it as a fresh install. I also happened to set it up the same way i did when i first set up my desktop. first i made a local account ( both desktop and laptop had the exact same name for the local account) then i merged it to my live account. i'm thinking that somehow my laptop is now the administrator to my desktop and all admin permissions were removed from the desktop account basically shutting it down. now the question is though. how do i remotely restore administrator permissions
