Hello all,

I recently downloaded HWMonitor Pro to observe my temperatures and I have the following questions:

CPU - FX6300 (NO overclocking) w/ stock cooler (Coolmaster I believe)

1) What exactly is the max safe temperature for the CORE? I see 65C and 75C thrown around the forums.

2) I sometimes play Dragon Age: Inquisition (medium settings) and I notice the following temps:

CPU
Max Recorded Core Package Temp: 75.1C

MOBO
Max TMPIN0: 34C
Max TMPIN1: 83C
Max TMPIN2: 91C

Now I used Core Temp months prior to HWMonitor and it showed the core at around 65C max but considering these other temperature readings have me very apprehensive. What are they associated with exactly? What is the mobo's temp specs? Also would a new cpu fan fix the temperature issue or could it be something else as well?

Other information:
PSU: 450W
AMD Radeon R7 250
8GB RAM
Stock CPU fan

Thermal paste was pre applied

Idle Temperatures:

CPU Core Package: 17C

MOBO
TMPIN0: 27C
TMPIN1: 36C
TMPIN2: 33C

I appreciate the link this overdrive seems useful though I gather that the thermal margin represents the cpu CORE but what about the socket temp(s)? Which of these three temperatures is the socket temp with this MOBO and what are the other two for?

There really is no standardization for their locations on the motherboard, I'd think the southbridge, northbridge, socket base and VRM for locations but really that's just a guess and I have no idea what number they use for what areas
I'd speculate that the highest temps shown would be the VRM area but again, that's simply guessing (I went that way since you do not have heatsinks on your VRM, no other reason)

Although it's been a few years since I read up on that (some things may have changed), temps are an interpolated value which is why sometimes different software show different values and some are more accurate than others. To compound that, it's system dependent and not really a fault of the software so one machine may be most accurate with one software while another near identical machine is most accurate with another (weird, huh?).

Wait I thought the VRM was located on the GPU card? If so then I already have a temperature for GPU which is cool thirty/forty something degrees. I just don't want my mobo to melt out of the case haha

You do have a VRM on your GPU but there is also one on the motherboard as shown here with aftermarket heatsinks

I have the FX-6300 overclocked at 4.52Ghz. Never reaches 60C with a Hyper 212 EVO.

Here's my motherboard: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-motherboard-ga970aud3p
