Are closed liquid coolers worth it?

I have had my computer for a while now, I am really happy with my systems specs and don't need to upgrade for at least a year in terms of gaming demands. However one thing is bothering me i have not replaced the stock CPU cooler and the amount of sound it makes is extremely annoying.

I have been looking into CPU closed liquid coolers, and was wondering are they worth the money, I have $175 lying around and would like to use it on a product that will have amazing cooling and will increase the life span of my CPU. I have 57mm between the mobo and roof of my case (corsair 450D), and can fit a 240, 280 or 360mm rad in the top. I wanted to know if a CPU closed liquid cooler is worth it and what are some good options. ( I don't know why but I like the Corsair H100i a lot)

Really appreciate the help Thanks ;)

The Corsair H100i has some handy software that you can use to control fan speeds and set different fan curves for different fans in your system (as long as its plugged into your mobo). If you want to go straight for performance I would recommend CM Nepton 280L. If you want expand ability you could go with the Swifttech H220-X.

noctua makes really great air coolers that are good for overclocking

it would take a little better water cooler to best a noctua in overclocking

what motherboard do you have? want to make sure nothing will explode haha

4+1 power phase is not good for overclocking at all.. sorry to burst your bubble but it would not make much since to put more than a hyper 212 evo on it so your not annoyed with the sound anymore

Bummer, what other kind of benefits would i get from using a cooler like a corsair h100i? If i wasn't to overclock it? Would the less sound/ lower temps be worth it and the addition of software and the extra fan cable that it comes with be worth it?
