I've asked on LTT forums and they said that my CPU would perform fine with 2 290x at 1440p. My question is would my motherboard bottleneck my system and if it would by how much?

Like i said, it will work, not sure how much of a performace hit you will get using that 2nd pci-e slot on that board.
A lot of people will recommend you get a better motherboard that will properly support both cards in at least dual 8x config.

That motherboard has a pci-e 3.0 16x slot and a pci-e 2.0 4x slot.
It's generally not recommened to run x-fire with that setup, however it will still work, the 2nd card will be crippled by that slot.
IIRC the 4x slot runs through the chipset, this will add extra latency to x-fire, you may see worse then normal frame times (Someone will correct me if im wrong).
