This has been happening to me for years. It happens on Windows 7, 8.1 and with any internal DVD drive. (SATA or IDE)
If I use an application like ImgBurn and write files at 6x speed, my drive will stay at that speed...unless I do another burn set at a different speed.
What I mean to say is, if I do a burn at 6x speed, and then use the drive to drag and drop files from my backup DVD's to my desktop, the drive will only extract the files at 6X speed. So in order to speed up the drives read speed, I have to use ImgBurn (which is all I have) and set it to a faster speed (say 16x) and actually do a burn to make it stick. THEN it will extract files from my discs at 16x speed. Dumb, huh?
So my question...
Is there any sort of application where I can manually set my drives speed? Or an application where I can extract files from my DVD's...one with a read speed selector?
Or perhaps there is another solution.
Thanks!
