Hi, i'm preparing to buy a new PC and i need help with the CPUs.

I want to buy the ASUS X99-DELUXE motherboard but i don't know if the AMD processors fit.

I was wondering between:

AMD FX 8-Core Black Edition FX-8370E
or
AMD FX 8-Core Black Edition FX-9590

And if it doesn't fit, what do you think about Intel® Core™ i7-5820K Processor?

Solution

Then x99 is probably not worth the extra money. Unless you have a lot of money to blow on a computer i would not recommend it a z97 motherboard and an i7 4790k would be more than enough for your purposes.

I have a 5820k, and Ill say any legit 6 or 8 core CPU is really only useful for tasks like rendering, 3d modeling, hardcore photoshop, and hardcore multi-tasking, not gaming. It overclocks well enough too. If you are looking to upgrade to the X-99 chipset the 5820k is a good choice. Replying from work, cant address other items, just wanted to give my 2 cents.

The x99 chipset is an intel platform you cant put amd cpu's in it. What are you using this pc for? If its for gaming x99 is a total waste of money go for a z97 board with maybe an i5 4690k or a i7 4790k both will perform just as well as the 5820k in games.

If that's the case and it's for gaming listen to Dunlop0078's post.

First things first, what do you want to do with your PC? Secondly, that motherboard isn't compatible with any AMD processor; X99 is an Intel chipset.

The i7 series is in a completely different league to anything that AMD can offer, particularly the 5820K, which really has that section of the market to itself.

The FX-9xxx series isn't worth considering at all in my opinion. The TDP is through the roof and the processors require a very good aftermarket heatsink, even without overclocking.

The FX-8xxx series is more comparable to the i5 series, at least from a gaming perspective. Multi-threaded tasks, such as HD video encoding will see a greater benefit from an FX-8xxx processor however.

EDIT: For your purposes, go for an i7 4790K as Dunlop0078 suggested. Alternatively, consider a Xeon E3 1230v3 if you aren't into overclocking and don't need an integrated GPU.

Thank you and the others for the really fast replies i think i'll go for a z97 then with an i7 4790K

Yes thats the best choice the performance difference between ddr3 and ddr4 is minimal at best especially for gaming nothing at all noticeable. You can build a much better gaming rig now that you dont have to spend all that extra money on an x99 motherboard, ddr4 ram, and a 5820k. Spend what you saved on a really nice graphics card thats whats most important for you.
