Still worth getting a second GTX 780ti for SLI

780ti still 1 of the fastest gpu a bit faster than the 970 and just lags a little bit from the 980.

if you could sell it and get gtx 970 sli it will be more power efficient and the performance with the sli 780ti will be comparable. :D

I would agree with saying the 980 is not worth the upgrade from a 780TI. However, you may be interested in the next generation of cards. It's going to be cheaper to go with the SLI. That's where you're going to get the most bang for your buck. Depending on what resolution you're on, I would recommend saving yourself the cash, and going with the SLI. If the next gen cards really interest you when they are released, you can always sell the two 780ti's.

SLI 970's? hmm.. i guess i could sell my 780ti for that.. is ebay still a good place to sell if i were to sell it?

Has there been any word on the release date of the new gen GPU's?? dont want to get a second card if they come out like next month?? thats why i want to know if its still worth getting a second one?

No there hasn't been. Thus why I would suggest going with the sli 780ti's. You'll be good to go on current games for quite some time.
