I use an AMD, but here is a comprehensive test of the NH-U9S on a test system with an i5 4670K chip:
At stock clock rates, under 100% CPU load, the CPU temp max'd out at 68C and the PWM fan was operating under 45% of its max (very quiet).
At heavy overclocking (4.6 Ghz), the cooler couldn't keep up. The fan ran at 100% and the CPU temp was thermal limited at 94C.
Backing off the overclocking (4.0Ghz), the cooler brough 100% load temps down by 15 degrees to a max of 79C.
So, I conclude that this cooler is a great choice for stock or mildly overclocked CPUs where space is tight in small cases. You can add a second fan and get another couple degrees of cooling. It's not going to perform like big 140mm coolers, but it's going to cool as well as or better than most coolers I've seen that will fit in the same space.
Here's a link to the whole review with a bunch of pics of the cooler installed.
