I have 4 x 2TB internal HDD's in my desktop (AMD Dual-Core, 8GB DDR2, etc) which I'm using it as a local server.
One of these 4 HDD's, a WD 20 EZRX seems to dissapear with no obvious reason.
Last week I tried to use the WD Align Software and for some reason, the Align failed, leaving HALF of my data CORRUPTED on the hard-drive mentioned above.
Since then I tried everything to recover the other half which was corrupted (the first half, which was uncorrupted was transferred on another HDD) using scandisk, chkdsk, third party software (like Acronis and Paragon) but the information remains corrupted, although readable).
And since then, my HDD keep dissapearing with no obviuos reason from My Computer and the only way to make it visible again is to turn off my computer and then to turn it back on. (Not even rescan disk command won't work and none of the software which I installed show the HDD, as it doesn't exist or is not connected).
I changed the SATA cable, the SATA port, the power cable, everyhting, but still the HDD keep to dissapear. All this seems to happen when the HDD reaches a certain location on it, although I scanned the HDD and no problems were found.

Also, I have two Samsung Spinpoint which they seems to die, that's what HDD Sentinel is saying (and I kinda trust this software since it predicted the death of my previous HDD, a WD 2.0 EARS).

Anyone any idea about those issues?

Thanks!

I would use a tool such as ddrescue to clone the failing drive to a third drive. Then I would examine the clone to determine the precise point where the realignment process stopped. We could then use ddrescue to reassemble the aligned and non-aligned halves onto another drive.
