Dram Frequency vs Amount of Ram

Hi, wonder if anyone can help?

I have 24Gb of ram installed
Made up of 2 x 8Gb @ 2133Mhz
and 2 x 4Gb @ 1600Mhz

I noticed that the mobo set the frequency to 1600 for all. I took out the 2 x 4Gb sticks and now the mobo is set to XMP and reports the true 2133Mhz.

My question is.
Would the system be quicker with 24Gb @ 1600Mhz or with just the 16Gb at 2133Mhz

Sorry if this is a dumb question but just wondered

If your computer requires ram usage of more than 16gb of ram, than the 24 will be quicker since windows doesn't have to use the pagefile (writing from ram to the harddrive). Otherwise usually the 16gb will be quicker, but this depends on the cas latency of the 2133 and the 1600.

Ahh thanks bootcher. IIRC the cas latancy went from 9 to 13 when I was in the bios (but don't quote me lol).
I'm running an i7 4770K OC'd to 4400Mhz. I built the system myself but i'm always looking for more speed. I use it primarily for 3D modelling software, Illustrator and PS.

It is a simple calculation to determine the speed:
the 1600 will calculate 1600/9=177.78 per clock cycle
the 2133 will calculate 2133/13=164.08 per clock cycle
So the 1600 will be faster, though the difference will be hard to notice in realm life use.
