Bought a Nexus 5 but Airtel sim isn't working!

My original cut micro sim wasn't working on my Nexus 5 so I was told to buy a new micro sim. But my Nexus 5 doesn't detect the airtel sim, however it detects the Vodafone sim I have. My older Galaxy S3 detects both the Vodafone and the Airtel sim. I have done everything from disabling LTE to buying another airtel sim card but the problem persists. Any help will be appreciated. I really need this phone and do not want to change my network provider to Vodafone or anything else. If this was a problem with the Nexus's sim slot then it wouldn't have detected any sim, right?

Need to check with both Airtel and Samsung to find out where the issue may be. If the card works in another phone, it's a good card, and if another card works in your phone it's not the card slot. So that leaves the specific combination of that card and that phone, which means the vendors need to sort out where the issue is. They will both point to the other one though so you will likely not get a clean answer from either place.
