Hi everybody!
I've just upgraded my RAM from 6GB 1066 to 16GB 1600
It's installed on an MSI Eclipse SLI mobo and works with a Core i7-920 2,67GHz so by default it loads with those settings:
1066MHz
CL 8
tRCD 8
tRP 8
tRAS 19

I know the motherboard is capable of running it in 1600MHz, but the i7-920 officialy doesn't support that.
So, please, correct me if I'm wrong:
Just enabling the XMP profile won't work correctly, right?
In order to get my RAM to the 1600MHz frequency i need to dial the core clock from 133MHz to 200MHz and, since I'm only focusing on RAM performance, lower the core multiplier to x13 and then set the latencies manually. Am I right?
RAM model is Corsair Vengeance Low Profile Blue 16GB (CML16GX3M4A1600C9B)

i have a 920 and a dx58og mobo. my ram is running around 1600 with the oc i have and all is well. if my system is actually using that extra ram speed is another question entirely.

i did run an xmp on stock cpu speeds and 1600 worked fine then as well.

yeah, same here. I got my CPU running @3,8 and RAM @1600, so the question I asked here isn't that important anymore.
I can't remember now, but I think enabling XMP overclocked my CPU automatically and it wouldn't even boot.
