I have a custom-built Windows 7 PC that I inherited and I'm unable to get the front audio jacks to work. I plug in a headset (with mic) and I can hear anything coming in from the microphone but but nothing from the computer.

The motherboard is MSI System Model MS-7680, and I've ran all Windows updates, installed all drivers I could find (HD Audio), configured the BIOS the way it should be, gone into audio settings and set everything up that I could, and it says everything is working fine.

I notice in Control Panel > Hardware & Sound > Manage Audio Devices > Speakers (the one with the green checkmark, which automatically shows depending on where I plug in, regardless of default) it has both front and rear green jacks but only outputs to rear, regardless of what's plugged in. Everything looks fine in the settings and even the bar is showing audio output visibly. I'm not sure how to troubleshoot it at this point.

Windows > Sound > Playback:
ti81jw7d9

Windows > Sound > Playback > Speakers (front & rear):
3p86nj971

Windows > Sound > Recording:
xjp4pjznx

Windows > Sound > Recording > Microphone (rear plugged in)
oamyffqrx

Windows > Sound > Recording (front plugged in, showing not plugged in):
sau3roh8t

Windows > Sound > Recording > Microphone front (plugged in):
c13xos6kt

Solution
What you could look at is the connections on the motherboard for the front audio they may be in the wrong slots, like positive is in the negative or something of that sort, and did the previous owner have problems with audio?

Are you talking about the hardware? I'll have to open the case to see if the jacks are connected properly; not sure I can do that yet.

I'm thinking it could as easily be hardware as it is software, because Windows recognizes the front and back jacks, but only understands when the back jacks are plugged in. I have no idea about the previous user.

Is there some way to access more hardware settings in Windows? I'm not quite sure how to configure the driver audio software or what the interface would be, but it does appear that Nvidia has HD Audio drivers for them.
