So I just bought the R9 290 from power color for 240 after rebate. I plan to do full build in the next year, but will probably wait 6+ months due to money(wife). While I understand and accept that the R9 290 will be bottle necked in my current system I wont be able to get a new card for a long time so I needed something that would work in the next system.

Current System-
CPU- 955be OC'd 3.5
GPU- MSI HD 4890 (on the fritz)
Ram- 4GB (going to put in 4GB more once i rotate heat sink 90deg)
Audio-Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatal1y Champ
Power supply- Thermal take toughpower 700W 80plus Bronze
HDD boot- Crucial M550
HDD storage-1TB WD black
Optical-Blueray
Fans- 3x120mm 2x140mm

So when I use power supply calculators I get back anywhere from
505W (coolermaster)
619-695W (extreme.outervision)
476-658 (powersupplycalculator.net)

....Oh and the card says 750W (min)...

So yeah I have a 4-5 year old 700W powersupply that i want to power a system that probably will be at 500W or so... with a bottlenecked CPU I figure the GPU wont be to taxed, and I DO PLAN to get a new power supply when i build the next box. I feel that i would be OK and the wife about lost her mind when I said 80$ for a new PS(I love my wife).
