Hello everyone!

Long story short...I built my first computer a while ago and I bought the msi gtx 970. It is an amazing card...don't get me wrong..it performed exactly as I wanted in games...but I had one problem. It had coil whine (and it was from the new batch with new stickers). For example while in crysis 3 menu...it had really bad coil whine...so I thought...hey...let's limit the fps to 150... And it dissapeared...kind of. Why kind of? Because...let's say I minimise the game...the card suddently changes it's pitch...and no...weren't the fans that stopped/startd moving or anything like that, it was clearly a different noise than the one the card made while it was in game. So sadly I had to send her back. Now the guys from the store emailed me and asked me to give them the code for the new card I want.

The questions is: should I try with a new msi card...or should I go for asus? What would you do?

Also...will there be differences in games? (Honestly...I liked my 80+ fps in bf4...I do not want that to change).

What I want..is a version of this card that performs identically but without having coil whine.

I am waiting for pieces of advice.

Have a nice day!

From what I have read, coil whine seems to be hit or miss, across all manufacturers. Personally, either I've been lucky to never have it, or my hearing now tops out (~13KHz) below the frequency where it happens.
In general, I have had good results with MSI cards. I'd get another one.

1) Asus do sound good, but go Gigabyte.
2) Sort of... Good brands won't see difference, since the fans are operational and properly cooling. But bad ones won't cool as well, and would see thermal throttling more easily. But then, it doesn't matter too much; performance will revolve around the same FPS.

Unfortunately I cannot get the G1 from Gigabyte. I have a nzxt 210 Elite case...apparently it doesn't fit.

And Onus...honestly I barely gave it away...I really liked my msi card...I just do not want that coil whine again. I'd love to have one without coil whine.

I am still waiting for your opinions guys..

Heh...so split opinions between you guys. Could you tell me why would you choose asus/msi? (This question is for both of you)

Also...I am still waiting for more of you to reply. Honestly, I need your opinions.

Well, in my experience (a statistically insignificant sample size of 4), half of the Asus graphics cards I've bought failed within hours or days of first use. I've owned only a few MSI boards, and they've been flawless. I might feel differently about their respective motherboards, but for graphics cards I prefer MSI.
