my psu fried my gpu cause the psu was bad, i hooked up a old 300w that i had laying around with just the cpu and a stick of ram in the motherboard to see if it would post to the bios, it did, does that mean my cpu/motherboard/ram is good?
Depending on the post code (beep or light signal), it will either tell you if everything works well or what is the faulty component.
well i hooked it up to a monitor and put a hdd in it, forgot to hit the bios setting button but it booted past the bios like it should but gave me the bootmg(i think its what it was) error so i dont think i had the right drive selected but everything seems normal so far.
OK well try to boot into BIOS, but I'm pretty sure you can't get through OS if you have a faulty cpu, mobo or ram.
i put a different hdd in it that has vista on it that i had laying around from another pc to try to get it to boot. i messed around in the bios just fine but while trying to boot into the OS it says can not come out of hibernation Hyberfil.sys then i click enter to boot and it starts booting like normal then gets a message saying can not display this video mode. im using a amd phenom X4 965 using the vga port in the back of the motherboard. the hdd thats in it has intel drivers i belive, it was a all in one.
It looks more like a driver or firmware problem than a hardware problem to me.
You might want to check this thread to resolve your hybernation problem (it's for win7 but will probably be similar for Vista) : http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-performance/windows-7-your-computer-cannot-come-out-of/20ffb7a3-7f0c-46f9-8516-c1e31b11e558
yea thats what i figured, i went ahead and made another windows disk and reinstalled it and its running flawlessly so far. thanks
