I just recently ordered an fx-9590 and a GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 mobo and Im having some trouble booting.

These were for an update of my old rig that used an i7 920.

When I try to boot I see the gigabyte boot screen and then it asks if I want to boot into windows or repair mode. When I boot into 7 it gets hung on a black screen and doesn't move on. Repair mode doesnt find anything wrong and exits. When I enter the bios menu I can see that the CPU temp hovers around 80°c then climbs to 89°c and then I'm guessing the moherboard shuts it down as soon as it flows over to 90°c. I'm no expert on these processors but that seems pretty damn high to me.

I'm thinking there is something wrong with my cooler or processor. My cooler is the h100 I had with my i7 setup. I cleaned the contact head with rubbing alcohol but there is still some kind if blue oxydation or something on the edge, but I assumed it was no big deal since my old setup ran fine and cool and the blue doesn't reach the processor.

Any ideas?

I figured that might be part of the problem however that doesn't explain the insanely high temps that make the motherboard shut down.

What do I need to do to get the drives installed? I've got the cd that came with the mobo. I've never done a migration from intel to AMD before. Sorry if these are stupid questions.
