Hopefully someone can help me or have some suggestions. Last night I noticed my PC was running into the issue of not allowing google search engine to load in any web browsers. I had no problem with other webpages or the internet, just the google website, so I figured perhaps I had some malware. Ran SD Spybot, AVG and Malwarebytes with no results. Then I ran TDSKiller as well, made sure the other programs were up to date and ran them again. Out of curiosity, I thought I'd reboot the computer in safe mode with networking to see if I got any results, but I found my computer for some reason wasn't able to boot into safe mode using F8, so I opted to try and reboot in safe mode with networking using msconfig through Windows. After I did this, my computer is unable to boot into windows now. I can't even get to the BIOS and I get nothing on my monitor. I tried reseeding the RAM and disconnected some of the SATA cables and made sure they are plugged in properly, but still nothing. The re-occurring debug code I get on the LED of the motherboard is A3 and doing research points to an IDE problem, but all suggestions tell me to go into the BIOS which I can't even access. Also, I noticed that if I unplug one of my USB devices (keyboard or mouse) and plug them in, the debug code changes to 64. Not sure if this is relevant. I have my Windows 7 discs and had thought about doing a repair or clean install on the OS to fix my prior problem, but the disc doesn't boot up either.

Anyways, anyone have any suggestions? Below are some specs, let me know if you need to know anything else...

Clear/reset BIOS?

Try this procedure (copied from another forum) -

In my case, I had to move the monitor to a different port on the graphics card, at which point I was able to get into the BIOS set up.

For some reason, the BIOS had defaulted the storage mode to IDE. I changed it to AHCI, but the debug code was then showing A6 (SCSI Enable I think). I then tried disabling the Marvell SATA3 controller, which cleared the A6 code. I was then able to boot cleanly and load Windows. I have no plans to utilize the Marvell SATA ports at this time, so all is well for me. If anyone is needing to use the Marvell ports, you may still be able to boot up with A6 code, as I've read elsewhere this worked for someone.
.

Instead of using...

Instead of using different port from video card, could try using integrated graphics until problem sorted.

Thanks for the response! I actually did the opposite (I've always had my monitor plugged into the motherboard and not the video card). I was able to access everything and found that setting the computer to reboot in safe mode under msconfig must have been the culprit as everything seems normal now. However, it still concerns me why the computer had so many issues.

I still have the google problem though. I am not sure why I can't load google, anyone have any suggestions towards that? I know it isn't the fight forum though. Think doing a repair with windows disc might fix it?

Suspect malware even though several anti-malware/anti-virus programs ran previously.

Try running HiJackThis, and "do a system scan and save a logfile".

At the results of the scan, look for any unknown/suspicious entries, particularly anything to do with "google". Be careful not to delete anything in HiJackThis scan result unless you are certain the entry is not supposed to be present. You could post the log here and we'll look at it and advise further.

After the scan (and possible deletion of suspicious entries) do the following to run the command prompt.

Start > All Programs > Accessories > run Command Prompt as administrator (mouse pointer over Command Prompt icon, right click, run as administrator) -

Type in the following and press enter key after each line (note there is a space between the"g" and the"/").

ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns

Exit command prompt window.

With a bit of luck the issue(s) may be now resolved.

Thanks! I did the release/renew/flush is a previous step before posting, but I will try again once I get a response about my HiJackThis log. I downloaded and ran HiJackThis, I did get an error about the program having restricted access to my HOST file, but I read this is pretty normal? I followed the instructions and didn't see anything in the host file, anyways, here is the log is did spit out for me...

I also wanted to note a couple things. I am using a router which a laptop is also connected to. It has no issues accessing websites including google. On this machine, I can access google canada or another IP address of google (74.125.225.84 for an example works fine). I can also access gmail on this machine, it's just when I go to www,google.com it won't work for me.

Thanks for the prompt result!

Nothing really stands out in the HiJackThis log as being suspicious.

Further suggestions can't be made at this time apart from the possibility of visiting/posting the issue/log at anti-virus forum here, and/or bleeping computer forum here.

Could also try Malwarebytes Anti-Malware again, but before running it, enable "Scan for rootkits" under - Settings > Detection and Protection.

And another program that is recommended to try is SUPERAntiSpyware (settings and procedure is here).

Thanks for all your help bris. I actually figured out what the issue was. My Internet Settings kept changing to proxy instead of automatically detecting the settings. I ended up going into Administrator and changing it and thus far haven't had any issues. I can access google fine now.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the feedback, that is useful! Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance.

Yes! This proxy setting in Internet Options has also caused issues for many others, myself included. I had forgotten about that when responding to this thread!

Glad everything is fine now!

Actually, I am still having issues now. After rebooting, it automatically is switching back to proxy. Any ideas or should I post a new thread in another forum? Seems fine after I switch to Automatic configuration through Admin, but once I reboot, it just switches back.

Sorry to read this! Frankly I don't have any ideas as to why the options revert back to "Proxy" after rebooting?

However, just confirm that under Control Panel > Network and Internet > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings
under "Automatic configuration", "Automatically detect settings" check box should be enabled and other check boxes below unchecked. Click OK on every window, don't click cancel.

You are using a router/broadband connection I believe, so the following may not be totally correct/applicable as I don't know what the settings/procedure is for routers. I only have experience in using dial-up. The following is for dial-up connection, it may not be correct for router/broadband connections.

Also for every internet connection - Control Panel > Network and Internet > Internet Options > Connections > highlight connection and select "Settings". Again under "Automatic configuration", "Automatically detect settings" check box should be enabled and other check boxes below unchecked. Click OK on every window, don't click cancel.
