I would like my PC to start up automatically on Mondays once a week at 7am to do an auto-backup to another PC on my network. The other PC can be set to boot on a specific day fine using BIOS.

On the PC in question (Asus Hero VI - Z87) when going into the BIOS the RTC looks like the following (please click the link). http://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1004156/

As you can see by the last pic for the day you can only put in a number (0~31) so I have no idea how to set it once a week on a Monday. Does anyone know?????? The manual says only what the UEFI screen says.
Thanks.

Is there an alternative in say Windows 7 task scheduler that magically works?

I think what you are looking at is telling the system to power on every X number of days. so once a week would be 7 days, but you have to get the time of day. A power out may also reset this to 7 days after power restore.

You may wish to look at wake on lan as an option. the system could sleep and then wake up when the other computer calls for it. Once setup correctly, it works well(sometimes too well some people have wake ups from other devices on the network).

That is what I thought but 7 days from when? last shutdown which would be useless.
I did look at "wakemeonlan" using the MAC and IP address and the software see's it but it won't wake the PC manually even when I click the icon in WakeMeOnLan. I blame my Netgear Nighthawke R7000 for that one.

Even so, for wake on LAN to be useful for me it would have to run a script on Windows Task Scheduler so my other PC can boot (using RTC which works), run the WOL task to boot the first PC, first PC run SyncToy script (works) then both PC's run shutdown task.
