Hey guys,
As the title says I need a motherboard that would fit this fairly old computer, if it exists. My brother has this brand new EVGA GTX 750 Ti GPU that was given to him and in theory, the card fits the build with no issue. However, the mobo this computer has, the Gigabyte M3970AM-HP (Angelica), has not recieved a BIOS update from HP since April of 2012. According to some extensive research around google I've done, the mobo needs UEFI to support the graphics card.
I've looked around and it seems some people suggest to attempt upgrading the BIOS on this mobo from a newer hp mobo. However, no one has confirmed attempting this and it runs the risk of bricking the Mobo. If anyone knows of a motherboard that supports this GPU and hp model desktop, please link me to one. Or if anyone knows a surefire work around to get the mobo the update it needs, this would also be appreciated. Otherwise it looks like I'm going to have to buy my brother a new comp sooner then I wanted to, which means I can't save a little more money to get him a higher end build.
Thank you guys ahead of time for any advice and suggestions. Much appreciated.
