Followed instructions for install, everything turns on but only for a couple minutes then off and then back on.

I don't mean to sound desperate but I'm super confused and open to suggestion. Thanks!

EDIT: followed the instructions on the posted sticky, got to the bit about starting up with one stick of ram, starts, screen comes up BUT now going straight to startup repair..."attempting repairs" now...

Many minutes later startup repair can't find the problem...sigh, next

What are we dealing with today?

Ok so reseting CMOS got me as far as the boot menu but once I exit that, it's the same ol startup repair menu.
I am very reluctant to take this to a computer repair shop as I fear it will be over priced and embarrassingly simple
