Hi guys

I finally got my DIMMs from the store (had to be special order, they did not have them in stock)
So I have an Asus KPGE-D16 with 2xAMD Opteron 6128 and 4x16GB (KVR13R9D4/16) installed as the manufacturer indicated.

I first opened 2 of the RAM boxes and I installed those two.
Everything went fine, the system recognized bot DIMMs
Next I installed the other two as indicated in the manual and now I am getting a message saying that DIMM2 did not past the test. I tried to swap them but no luck!
Not sure what is going on, the bios seems to detect all 4 modules, it is able to read their temperature and to show their clock and configuration

What can I do to find the problem here? What could this be?
Obviously there is nothing wrong with the DIMMs since if I swap them I always get an error regardig that A2 slot . It is strange that that slot did not report any errors first time when I started the server

thanks in advance
Uni

Problem freaking solved! I was probably pretty close to damaging my MB
I bought a case that claimed to support SSI EEB form factor
It does but not all the screw wholes on my MB had a corresponding riser screw on the chassis
I installed the riser screws where I believed they should be and where I believed they matched the wholes on the MB
Well...one of them was installed off and it was UNDER THE MEMORY SLOT that was causing problems.
Looking for the SN of the MB to see if I can have ASUS to replace the MB I noticed this riser screw that had no screw and it was right under the memory slot.

Hmm this is strange.
When I disconnect the SATA drive that connects to SATA1 the system is seeing all the dims

nope...scratch that. It happened once...now it is back to the same sympthom

Update: I upgraded the BIOS to the newest available (2013)
It is interesting that they added this function a while ago (2010)

Description KGPE-D16 formal released BIOS version 0606
1. Fix Enabled/Disabled string in BIOS Setup
2. Add Error DIMM Detect function
3. Add Disabled Memory by Channel function

I am wondering if I downgrade to something older that this 0606 (what a number!) what is going to happen. Am I going to get rid of the message ?

This seems to be a physical problem.
This MB is installed in a gaming chassis.
As soon as I put the system in vertical position the DIMM in question "disappears"
If put the system in horizontal position then I can see the DIMM.
This is different from last night, when the system was also in horizontal position
The only thing that I did was to juggle the memory in the slot while the module was locked in.
Not sure what that did but this is the situation right now.

Any guess what could cause this?
