This will mainly be used for video game development, gaming and maybe some school work.
This build has to be small as it will be moved around a lot. Also note that the two ssd's will be in RAID 0. Canadian dollar by the way. Thanks.

H97 wasnt really designed for overclocking. Asus however managed to enable it on the H97 boards back when the 4790k was released, but i don't know if its still possible. You could always go ahead and still get the 4790k, and then see if it is possible to overclock with the board.

Dont budget out so much on the PSU, you really should get something better to run all of this expensive hardware.

Get a i7 4790, you have chosen an H97 board, so you cant really overclock properly, and it is a waste of money to get the -K CPU without a Z97 board.

Other than that, the build looks fine. I would suggest that you look at some kind of additional mechanical storage though, you will fill 240GB very quickly.

Does the i7 4790 lose any other performance other than overclocking? I just chose this PSU because it was Corsair and I know they are trusted. And for the storage I have an extra hdd at my house that i'm going to put in. This is my first build by the way so I don't know to much.

The 4790 has a 400MHz slower base clock speed (3.6GHz), but that is still more than enough power for game development. I have a friend who used to make games on his FX 8120, and it performed fine.

Corsair is trusted, but they also make some budget options, which really shouldnt be used unless there is no alternative.

A good alternative would be this Seasonic, if you went with the 4790, you would save $30 which could go towards it.

Don't apologize for not knowing something, that's what we are here to help with.

When you say "you can't really overclock properly" does that mean not at all? I also checked out the power supply you mentioned and added it to my build.
