I have a prebuilt HP computer that came with this motherboard: http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docLocale=en_US&docId=emr_na-c03132942

The specifications say the motherboard only supports Sata 2.0 (Which I presumed runs at 3gb/s)
The internal connectors however, say this: "6x SATA 2.0 connectors (SATA 0 - 1 @ 6 Gb/s, SATA 2 -5 @ 3 Gb/s)"

  • ■ Does that mean the SATA 0 port and SATA 1 port can run at 6gb/s?

    ■ If so, can I plug my SATA 3.0 ssd into the SATA 0 or SATA 1 port and get the maximum potential of the ssd?

Thanks for reading.

Solution
Yes that motherboard does have Sata 3.0 on it but just the ports 0 and 1. the other ports are still the older 2.0 - 3GB /s.

EDIT: I think they just grouped them together to save space to be honest. It is understandable where the confusion lays.

Q: "Does that mean the SATA 0 port and SATA 1 port can run at 6gb/s?"
A: yes those ports will run at the 6GB/s speeds. But just those 2 ports.

Q: "If so, can I plug my SATA 3.0 ssd into the SATA 0 or SATA 1 port and get the maximum potential of the ssd? "
A: yes these ports will be the best ports to use for ssd/s and Hdd's
