Hey guys, I decided to repost this since I haven't been getting any answers yet.
- Problem #1
Sometimes when I leave my computer off over night & I turn on the power supply switch & turn on the computer, it will pass POST but then my TV screen says "No Signal" & it won't boot into Linux Mint but the fans are spinning & my HDD is spinning like normal.
- Problem #2
After I get to the Desktop or login screen & I shut down my computer, I press Shut Down & it gets to a black background with a white mouse cursor so it doesn't shutdown properly. This happens a lot.
- Problem #3
I get online on Mozilla Firefox & go to Youtube but it says Untrusted Connection & everything looks HTML which is weird because on my other computer, everything is working fine.
Thank you guys. :)

Solution
I have been following this thread without being able to offer any advice. Did some Googling and it looks like this is a problem with the Asrock Z97 motherboard. Doesn't happen often but sometimes it is the motherboard. This appears to be one of those cases. Here is a thread on it.

#1: This acts like a possible PSU issue. A defective PSU would cause similar issues. Do you have another PSU that you could swap into the system to isolate this issue?

#2: This sounds like an APM/ACPI (Power Management) issue. Is this rig only running Linux?

#3: If you have another browser installed (like Chrome), does it display sites properly?

#1, I'm not sure about the PSU, but I don't have another one I could switch in. It seems fine, everything powered up, HDD, chassis fans, CPU, CPU fan, etc.

#2, Yes, this is the only computer I've built running Linux Mint 17.1, no other operating systems on it. I'm wondering if it could be something in my BIOS?

#3, No, I don't have chrome installed but I could try that later, however Synaptic Package Manager displays OK & downloads packages correctly.

I'm not sure, I will have to check that.
But the No Signal problem occurred on 1 TV, & on another where the screen blacks out & I had to turn it off & on & it has the No Signal. After a few times of pressing the reset button on my case to restart the computer, it finally boots in like normal.

No, & I'm using a television for this PC. I turn on my computer & I can see the Asrock logo (POST) displaying correctly & when I press F2 to get into the BIOS, it displays correctly too. But after passing the Asrock logo (POST), my computer tries to load Linux Mint, but then the screen goes blank & shows No Signal.

I thought this was a problem with my TV or HDMI cable? I'm currently thinking of getting a HDMI to VGA adapter to test it on a monitor & not a TV. But first, I will try the console mode.

There are two peculiar things; First... sometimes it will boot all the way to the desktop. Second... you can see the BIOS (asRock) screen every time you boot up. I think the problem is more likely with the television settings. Try setting the tv picture settings format=unscaled rather than widescreen. If you are feeding the audio to the tv with the hdmi cable, make sure your tv audio settings agree. If you are using the computer's analog audio output to feed a separate audio system (or the tv's analog audio input) make sure the tv audio settings are set properly. My Philips tv won't show a signal if the audio settings are incorrect.

Also, I get the "Untrusted Connection" notice when my internet connection fails.

Sorry for the long reply, I have tried what you said. Same results. I'm gonna try a monitor not a TV to power up the system, otherwise could it be a onboard video problem on the motherboard?

Trying it on a monitor should help troubleshoot. I have an older monitor on one computer that won't wake up if it's connected with a HDMI, but it will wake up with a VGA connection. The monitor is the problem, not the pc. A hdmi>vga adapter may fix your problem if it's like this. You might have a bad cable, hmdi seem to easily break for me.

You could re-install the newest Mint if that's an easy option. Fresh installs sometimes solve my problems. And like COLgeek said, your power supply may be wacky. Maybe try disabling the C-states 6 and 7 in BIOS. Maybe also check the Mint settings Power Management and Screen Locker, set to never lock screen or put monitor to sleep.

EDIT: Another thing, the tv may not be dealing well with the Mint splash screen. You can try opening the Grub bootscreen by holding SHIFT after the asRock logo vanishes. If the grub screen appears, hit 'e' to edit the bootline parameters and add nomodeset then boot. However, I think if this was the problem you'd never have been able to reach the desktop.

I think the power supply is working fine, parts seem fine, running OK. & I have re-installed Linux Mint 17.1 a few times, still the same results. & I disabled the settings like to never lock screen or go to sleep mode while inactive.
& you might be right about the mint splash screen, I'll try changing it later. Would it be useful if I could get a motherboard speaker for POST beeps, so I can hear what's going on when the computer tries to load the OS after the AsRock logo?
