Hi, So I'm running Windows 8.1 and on a second hand PC I recently put together I'm getting Invalid IP Config and can't connect to the internet.

Motherboard is a P5N-E Asus and the network card is an Nvidia nForce.

Trying to connect via LAN and having no luck.

Any suggestions are more than welcome I really want to be using this pc asap!

Solution
Your Motherboard doesn't fully support Windows 8/8.1. This mother board uses the old Nforce NVidia package drivers.
Solution would be to disable onboard network Nic and use another network card (pennies from most pc parts shops) then you could keep Win 8.1 without any negative effects.

You could just set it statically in the adapter settings if this is just occurring on one machine, but if it's an issue with multiple devices, then you may want to double check the DHCP settings on your router.

It sounds like he already does what?

That motherboard has dual lans to make into a gateway.I don't think he has separate Nic also.

No, the nForce is built into the Motherboard, if I get a network card, where do I insert it into the motherboard? (still kinda new to the whole PC building thing...)

EDIT: If it doesn't support Windows 8/8.1, What about Windows 7?
