Have I damaged my brand new GTX 780?

I very recently bought a new GTX 780, and installed it into my PC. I was previously running an HD 7750, with a phenom II x4 965, 8GB RAM and a 650w PSU. However, after installing it, my PSU made a loud whirring/crackling sound, accompanied with a slight whiff of burning plastic. I also noticed that in some games, there were flickering distorted lines across the screen. Since then, I've upgraded my (very old) PSU for a new 750w version.

However, now everything is working normally, except my screen is ever so slightly blurry. It's not obvious at a first glance, but after a few seconds it becomes clear that the image isn't as sharp as before, and causes slight headaches. I have installed the latest Nvidia drivers, and I want to say I'm sure I didn't notice this before (but I can't guarantee this). My GTX 780 is a direct MSI manufacturer refurbished model from ebuyer, otherwise unbranded. Any advice?

Ok, so I've tested it with my old GPU, and I'm fairly certain that the picture is slightly sharper with it. I've tweaked the gamma/contrast/brightness on the Nvidia control panel, and turned up the sharpness on my monitor, but the picture is still ever so slightly fuzzy. It's really minor, but it seems much more apparent when jumping from one GPU to this one. Although, naturally, I'm reluctant to put it to a hardware malfunction before I've exhausted the other less problematic potential solutions. :p

UPDATE: I fiddled a bit more with the screen display settings, and I think I've managed to resolve the image quality issue, meaning it wasn't due to the GPU. HOWEVER - Now, when playing games, particularly on graphically intensive settings, i.e. Wildstar on ultra, I'm getting noticeable screen flickering? As in lines across the screen, flickering quite prominently. It seems to occur more obviously whenever I do anything that is straining on the GPU/CPU, such as moving around quickly. I have Vsync on, both in-game and globally forced via the Nvidia control panel. My refresh rate is at 60Hz. Any solutions?

Blurriness appears to have been fixed by display settings - I've just fixed the flickering during intensive GPU demand by replacing my very old D-Sub connector for a new HDMI connector. Not quite sure of the reason for these issues, but they've been resolved. Thanks for the help guys.
