Let's say I buy the fire phone and keep it in the package or in mint condition....in years and years will it be worth something? I mean amazon is a huge company and so far it seems like they're only going to get bigger. The phone was a flop so I doubt that many were bought.

It's nothing iconic or groundbreaking, it will be worth maybe 1/4 of what you paid for it.

If it was the first smartphone, maybe, and likely even then it would have to be a special edition.
I very much doubt it will be worth anything. How many tech items have you seen worth big bucks? It's not liked now, will not be useful later, and just won't ever be worth anything to speak of.

Just because something is rare doesn't make it valuable.

I cant even think of any piece of hardware that has appreciated in value, especially in the days of mass production. It's not like a classic car that you can still drive or an old gun you can still shoot. Once technology becomes old and antiquated, it basically loses all it's value.

The only piece of tech I can thing of that has some value is the original iPhone since it's a collector's I guess. Or so I've heard. Thought that'd apply to the fire phone, but now that I think more about it, seems like a preposterous idea.

Well there was that one IBM keyboard....and some rare game systems but some might not be entirely because of the system (take the original Xbox's that were each signed by Bill Gates[though its possible his signature is also a big factor in that too...]) I will admit that the Amazon phone is not really unique enough though to become something big sorry... =/
