Best GPU to upgrade to for gaming PC?

Hi, I recently built this gaming PC: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/thecosmicpie/saved/PKvNnQ

And in july I am planning to upgrade the GPU. I currently have the Club3d radeon r9 280x royalqueen edition and I was thinking of a geforce gtx 970 or something. My budget is 400-500 bucks CAD not USD. Also please consider the fact that prices may be lower by the time I buy one.

I'd go for a 970 but a r9 280x isn't bad, it'll still run games well

I wouldn't plan this far ahead to do an upgrade. It's just not a wise idea. Prices are going to change a LOT in that time, and AMD are due to have another generation of cards out somewhere around that time too.

A 280x is a solid card. Upgrade it when it's not giving you the performance you want.

You could try getting another r9 280x for crossfire, otherwise don't bother upgrading. The r9 280x is already a very good graphics card.
