Hi, I want to buy the i5 4690k processor and overclock it to 4.4 GHz. I'll go with the Noctua NH-U14S cooler, but I'm not sure what motherboard I should get. It should not be too expensive, for I want to spend most of my money to the video card.
Do you think the Gigabyte GA-Z97P-D3 (http://uk.hardware.info/productinfo/218742/gigabyte-z97p-d3) is a good one?

all z97s will get you to 4.6ghz. it just depends on how much voltage your chip needs and how much cooling you have. some chips go to 4.5ghz on 1.30v, some only get to 4.2ghz. the motherboard has nothing to do with it.

if all your going to get is a hyper 212 evo and you dont need sli/cfx capability, get the cheapest z97 you feel comfortable with.
4.4 is not that aggressive of an overclock, you shouldn't have much trouble. That gigabyte would be fine.

Edit:
Motherboard OC performance between the main brands is very negligible, motherboards are more about features like fan headers, and ports,

I personally prefer Asus for features like variable voltage overclock, fan headers, etc.
I have used gigabyte a lot also with no problems.
