Is it worth choosing a more expensive Z97 motherboard over a Z87 motherboard when the CPU you intend to put into is only 4th generation anyway?
Is there any noticeable advantage to having the Z97?

Z97 has two features that make it worth to buy in my opinion:

1. Ability to accept 5th gen broadwell CPUs.
2. M.2 SSD support. Get up to 10GB/s bandwidth on a single PCIE m.2 slot.
