I got a Gigabyte GTX 970 Gaming G1 for Christmas, and when I attempted to use it with my computer, there would be no video output on the monitor. I tried updating my BIOS, playing around with things, and nothing worked.

I then purchased a new motherboard (Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming 3) and with it a new CPU (i7-4790k), and thought that the problem would be fixed. I put it all together to once again be disappointed by the fact that the card failed to work once again.

At this point it seemed clear it was a DOA card, so I RMAd it with Newegg. Well today, I received my new card, and to my disbelief, it turns out to be having the exact same problem.

I tried both the PCIex16 and x8 slots and none worked. I tried 3 of the display ports on the card and even tried using a DVI to VGA adapter as some said worked. I updated my BIOS AGAIN and nothing is working. Everytime I boot up, it just defaults to on-board video, even though it is set in my motherboard to check for PCIex16 first. I tried to install the drivers but it fails saying no compatible hardware is detected. My PSU is 750W and is pretty much the last remaining piece that could be effecting it, but I don't see why it would be a problem as my old video card worked fine. And the fact that it SHOULD default to the on GPU no-driver graphics, probably even without the power coords at the top plugged in (not sure if this is true).

It's seriously driving me insane and I'm really annoyed right now that I payed $400 and waited almost a month and for whatever reason the card refuses to work. Any ideas at all????

Hmmm. I have the same motherboard and GPU combination as you, and I just plugged mine in and it took off. Have you tried resetting the BIOS back to default settings?

Have you tried plugging your old card in to see if it still works? Maybe your PCIe slot went bad.

My old card actually died but I had a replacement card in the mean time which does work fine. Also as I said I checked both the x16 and x8 slots so that isn't the problem. This is also a brand new motherboard so I don't see how it would have problems like this. I updated my BIOS and I even tried the card with the BIOS right out of the box a few weeks ago before my new one.

Haha yes both are. If one of them wasn't, though, would the card do this? Because I think that my PSU might not be sending power correctly or at all through the Moxel connectors. If that were the case, would the card not show video at all?

FIXED IT!!! Turns out my dad had cut a yellow 12v cable going into a molex connector which the GPU seems to have relied on. I noticed a missing wire that all the other 3 connectors had and one was missing and so I told my dad and he reattached that yellow cable and it worked!!!! Thank you!!
