Installed Windows 8 during Legacy mode boot, now can't boot when switched to UEFI

I had to replace my old hard drive and I tried multiple ways to boot from other devices so I turned the boot option in bios to Legacy, and forgot to switch it back before installing Windows 8.

Now when I switch the bios back to UEFI, it wont boot into Windows 8 and the HDD does now show in the list of devices.

I have the latest BIOS version for my Lenovo z500 laptop.

Thank you in advance.

It's only one or the other, to switch at all you need to reinstall. UEFI is better than legacy because of the two features you stated and also because of secure boot - it stops malicious code infiltrating the bootloader and running at boot.

Aside from supporting larger storages and faster boot time, what other advantages does UEFI have over Legacy mode? Would it be worth to reinstall for the sake of UEFI? And if I do reinstall in UEFI could I still boot back in legacy?

Thank you again
