I will be building a small HTPC to go with a spare gpu i have hd 6870.

The cheaper the better for me. I would also want to do some gaming on it nothing heavy as i have a main rig.

This is how much i would be getting the CPUS for.

g3258 - £44 - $66
I7 920 - £40 - $60
860K - £55 - $83
i3 530 - £10 - $15

Thanks

Definitely the 920

Despite having significantly worse speed per core than the pentium, it does have four physical cores with hyperthreading. It'll perform better on more intensive processor bound games, and do insanely better when utilized for programs that use more than two threads. The other two aren't even in the running

I sold a tower to a friend recently with an i7 870 + GTX 295. Still performs impressively across the board, when overclocked. You'll get even better performance from the 920 as it's the better overclocker
