Random pc freezing and crashing

So.. my pc has recently started to freeze at random followed by a shutdown on the mainboard side. After digging around, I'm thinking that my cpu might be overheating because my water cooler isn't quite sufficient. Thing is I've had this rig since last July and it hasn't ever given me these kinds of problems. I read you could cool the processor down by underclocking it, so I went into my bios and found the multiplier. It's default is at x22 so I lowered it to x18. I rebooted and it froze just before booting windows. Other forums indicated this could be due to the ram speed. Does anyone have any ideas how I could tweak my settings to achieve the desired effect? And just to stop you, changing any component in my PC is out of the question.

I'm looking for an immediate hot fix, so to speak. I am looking into a new water cooler that can handle my processor, though.

Note: This is my second time trying to send this post. While writing it I froze and crashed again.

Well it's good that some people can read and understand the english language. Not you John TJ. You actually read and understood my post. Is there some kind of ram checking program I could run that might point to this as being the issue? Ok, well he pulled his post. Anyway he suggested I run on a single ram stick as dust in the ram slot could cause this problem. I ran mdsched.exe and it returned no ram errors, though.

Well given that I might have to replace the processor (No new drivers have been installed before this started to happen) I did notice the crashes only seemed to happen when firefox was running. I disabled hardware accel in firefox, so maybe that might be it. Otherwise, what would be a comparable processor for the motherboard and other components I have listed?

Well.. I just made it through 4 games of League of Legends with no crash since unchecking hardware acceleration in firefox. I did get the periodic lag spike frame rate drop that I think is also a result of the overheating. I definitely think I'll get an H100i and install that, though.

Update. Tigerdirect kicks ass. This is the first time I'd ever used overnight delivery an item and it actually came the next day. The H100i is installed with the fans aiming upward to send the heat out of the case. Every other fan is directed to suck air into the case. Core temp is down to around 30C as opposed ot the 70C it was earlier

I thought a push pull on the H60 would be plenty. Ibuypower did an ok job of building my pc, but they don't know shit about cooling a processor. Also, if anyone buys their professional cable installation, don't. You'll end up having to rip all the cables out and do them yourself because when they install cables, it looks like a third generation inbred soviet space monkey did it.

Now while I love how cool this new H100i is keeping my rig, it's noisy as hell. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I might remedy this? Any good suggestions for replacement fans I could use instead of the stock corsair fans?
