GPU causing high CPU temps

Hey guys (and girls)

I managed to get my hands onto a 'Gigabyte Geforce GTX 760 4GB OC' for Christmas, and it is all running nicely except that ever since ive gotten it, my CPU temps have been higher

I have water cooling(Antec Kuhler h2o 650) for my CPU (AMD FX-6100, overclocked to 4Ghz), Im getting about 35-40C idle temps, and 45-55C in game temps. When i had a Geforce GTX 650, i was getting 35C in game (occasionly 40 on a hot day) and 25C idle

My case is the 'Cougar MX300' and my current fan layout is, 0 fans on front, 1 side fan (bottom position, using it as out take, as its located right next to the exhaust of the 760), 2 out take top fans, and the 1 rear fan is where the water cooling fan is located

I don't have any front fans as thats where most of the power supply spare cables are located.

Thanks in advance guys

Solution
Your case is designed for intake on the front and side. Exhaust through the top and rear (use push/pull fans on radiator).

It's preferable to have overall more positive case pressure.

+1 - we posted at the same time. Dont worry about how close the fan is to the thing you need vented. Worry about the overall case temp -- that means cross ventilation.

Edit: OMG YES ON THE DIAGRAM. All it took was google lol.

Alright, thanks you 3 for all replying with a minute of eachother xD

The water cooling fan is pushing air out, so your saying i should have another fan attached to it, on the other side pulling air through? while the stock one is pushing

I have spare power cables sitting in the HDD slots so would having intake there not be as effective? or just put a fan there anyways for the cooler air

My CPU shouldn't be going over 60C as its not long after that, that it starts getting damaged, just expecting it to be cooler because of the water cooling

Radiator fans in push pull exhausting out would look like this <II<. Your "water cooling" is at best only to be as cool as the air that feeds the radiator. When I had my H50 closed-loop-cooler, I actually found that mounting in the front as an intake gave better CPU temps.

I can't mount it in the front as the HDD slots are in the way, i can put normal fans in there though, the only place that will fit the water cooler is in the top rear side

I'll show you how I mounted mine (BRB I'll post an image here)

I tried moving it down one, but than there wasn't enough room for the tubes, i need to keep it for now, i still have some stuff on CDs, once i get my PS3 ill get rid of it

i reorganised my fans, put another one on the rad, so there was a push pull effect, placed one down the front, and the other, on the side right next to the rad so it is feeding it cooler air

Im getting 33C idle now

yeah its better now, running at 35 while playing WoW, though it is a cooler morning, still alright

Think i will be getting my ps3 sometime this weekend, so i will try to put the radiator at the front
