Ok so whenever i install the intel usb 3 eXtensible host controller driver for my Gigabyte z87x-hd3 motherboard, every single usb port stops working, including the usb 2 ports and front ports.

This is easily fixed by plugging in a ps/2 keyboard and uninstalling the intel program and uninstalling the intel driver. However, the problem still remains that my usb 3 ports run at usb 2 speeds when using usb 3 devices in them, and im left with and unknown device in device manager.

Would really appreciate any help, i can provide more information if need be, and my bios is updated to current version.

Yep thats where i downloaded it from. I extracted the intel usb 3 driver and installed it. Re-started my computer and no usb devices would work until i un-installed it.

Yes there is "Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller"
that has a yellow marker, i have already tried updating software but windows could not find driver software.
When i install the USB 3 drivers and restart my computer the name switches to intel usb 3 eXtensible host driver or something similar, however even this has a yellow marker with the same problem, except none of the usb devices will then work

Try uninstalling whatever driver is installed for the USB device and then immediately install the correct one from gigabyte. Have it on your HDD somewhere. If that does not work, delete the device all together and then install the correct driver. If that does not work try what you were doing and see if you can direct the install to the correct driver on your HDD.

There is a place on the HDD that the wrong driver is and probably should be removed because it keeps on installing it's self. Don't remember off hand where right now???

Ok, so i'm almost certain i have given you an impossible issue that i doubt even gigabyte and intel can help me solve.
There is no wrong driver downloaded.
There is a more up to date version of the driver available from intels website, however this still has the same issue. I get a yellow marker in device manager along with an error 10 - device not working. USB's are still at USB 2.0 speed, then upon restart i lose access of all usb devices (only once windows boots, usb devices work fine in the bios ect.)
Thanks for your help though, it looks like i'll just have to use usb 2 speed.
