I am looking at upgrading my graphics card and I was worried about the high temps of the r9 290x any help would be appreciated

Solution

That case looks pretty decent, should have plenty of airflow if you've got lots of high quality fans, airflow optimised in the front and exhaust positions will help

The heat issues are not disastrous, as the card itself will run fine despite being hotter. If you live in a warm climate as I do, it may thermally throttle a bit, which doesn't make a huge difference unless you're doing something amazingly intensive. If you're worried about the heat still, (I do greatly recommend the 290x), I would suggest the NZXT Kraken G10, which adapts an Asetek AIO liquid cooler to fit a gpu, whihc I am using at the moment. The Kraken costs $39 here, and the cooler I'm using cost me $80. A fairly high cost to cool, but remember it has almost twice the TDP of a cpu and really deserves some decent cooling. Mine runs at ~40C on idle and ~60C on load.

okay here goes.....I have a water cooled amd fx 9590 processor, m5a99fx pro r2.0, currently with a sapphire r9 270x tri-x, going to 32 gigs of ram, and 1000w gold power supply from corsair, and a corsair 500r case. My issue is will I have enough air to cool the amd r9 290x in this case? I do live in Canada in a basement where it is a tab bit cooler don't know if that plays a factor either. Now if you say it was built to sustain that heat then maybe i am just over-thinking this buy, i just figured the high heat would attribute to cooking the card too early.
