I'm thinking about doing my first home built gaming PC. Here are the components that i have picked out

MB: ASUS Z97-A LGA

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K

RAM: G.SKILL Trident X Series 16GB

Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti

Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS

Case: Cooler Master HAF 912

Power Supply: Rosewill ARC 550

Any advice or feedback would be appreciated.

if you're buying a high end cpu and ram, i would upgrade the video card to a gtx 970 or 980. and upgrade the psu to an 80 platinum. however you don't have to take my advice, this build you have will work just fine
