Hi.

I have a number of devices connected to a router. Some wirelessly and some via Ethernet cables.

I do not have a wired connection to the internet but I do have access to a wifi hotspot.

I would like to be able to connect my router to the wifi hotspot such that the wifi internet connection is used as an alternative to having a cable connection into the wan port of the router.

This would allow the devices on the local network to have internet access without having to disconnect them from the local network and connect them individually to the Wi-Fi hotspot.

I am prepared to buy another router or other hardware if required and am open to suggestions.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Solution
Depending on router, you can turn it into a bridge and use the wifi to make a connection to the hotspot.
On most routers that only have one wireless frequency, you would lose the ability to connect to its wireless.
The bets solution, would be another router to act as bridge and connect that to the WAN of your existing router.
