So im not getting much help in a thread i mad, i figured making a new topic would be okay considering my question is now no longer the same as my OP on the thread linked below.
http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2485307/recommend-motherboard-build-pls.html

Heres the 2 part question i need help with due to being told the i7-4930k im interested in buying wont work with my rampage IV extreme x79 mobo in the link above.

1st part am i correct in assuming the intel i7-4930k is x79 aka ivy bridge and will work with my rampage IV extreme mobo?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGA_2011#Desktop_.28Sandy_Bridge-E.2FIvy_Bridge-E.2FHaswell-E.29
^^ LGA 2011 explained with links to listed processors that are either ivy or haswell which i believe is the same as saying x79 or x99
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haswell_%28microarchitecture%29#List_of_Haswell_processors
^^ no listed 4930k
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivy_Bridge_%28microarchitecture%29#IVY-BRIDGE-E
^^ 4930k listed as an ivy bridge...

2nd part: is my rampage IV extreme pretty much as far as it goes besides maybe a black edition when it comes to the x79 line in terms of mobos. For example if i already have the black edition, battlefield edition, or regular version, i dont have any reason to go looking for a new board, or do i?

Thanks again for your time.

You are correct to assume that a 4930k will work with any x79 board. The Rampage is not "as far as it goes". Asrock x79 eXtreme11. Much higher end. You will not need a new board though. Just to clarify 2011 is not x79 and x99. x79 is 2011, while x99 is 2011-3.
