ill tell you the things iknow about Tahiti chips

max safe temp DON'T EXCEED 85C keep it at 85C or bellow and you're good

that card can be Oc'ed really well Tahiti chips OC can range from 1100 to 1200 on the core

the memory depends on the chip elpida will get you 1400mhz or lock up @ 1500MHZ any more and they will crash if u get a hynix

they can overclock to hell mine are running from a mere 1200 to 1900 a whooping 700mhz on the memory but that is really rare just keep them at 1575MHZ if u can any more and the gains are very little not worth the heat

and u wont notice gains on all the games that card is already bathing in bandwidth lol with the wide memory bus

max safe voltage for that card is 1.3V any more and thats water...

Yes it is. Try it and find out. Needs lots of power (good PSU) and gets hot though. So good case cooling is a good idea.

Nothing wrong with refurbished if he is serious and legit. If he is a scammer it's another thing.

I forgot the exact model name but i do knw tht its black in colour..have a rly huge fan and says CoolerMaster on the label..iv used a 7950 before in it and it worked nice even after OC..tho I destroyed the 7950 when I raised the voltage a little hahaha..so after tht happend i made a vow not to OC again

lol how much Voltage did u use for your 7950 if i may ask i have a vapor-x running 1300/1900 @ 1.22V

anyways that R9 280X is basically a 7970 so u should see 10~ more FPS in games and u can OC that thing without touching the voltage to 1200 on the core if u get lucky

Hi sorry for the late reply

I used GIGABYTE OC GURU and i clicked JUST ONCE..JUST ONCE!! on the increase bar.so i think it was like 0.010V+ increase..i think.. and i OC my core clock frm 1000 to 1050Mhz..and then after i played nfs rivals for 20mins game crashed..and PC never booted..black screen..reset BIOS..switched BIOS frm GPU..nothing worked..tried everything possible..either it is bricked or fried but its hard to belive its fried..since its just a 1 bar increase in voltage..idk wht rly happend.Used another PCI E card...it booted worked normally..its a NVIDIA 256mb card im using now..using just for videos

ouch IMO the only thing i would trust for overclocking is MSI after burner i really like UI it is clear and easy to use all i did was move my voltage to 1.25

OC to 1200/1500 than i started increasing the Speed by 15 each time and by 50 on the mem after i got the 1300/1900 i lowered the voltage until the card started crashing i ended up with 1300/1900 @ 1.22V

how ever when i was @ 1.25V i did notice the card voltage jumping up above 1.35 for like a second that creeped me out and i thought i burned something LOL As far as i can remember the windforce 7950 had coil whine and used cheap Vrms on some cards i don't really remember exactly but i heard something bad about the VRMs

Oh but since tht incident im scared for life to increase voltage lol..wht do u think is the best core clock OC for the R9 280x Twin Frozr WITHOUT increasing voltage and no xtreme temperature increase(78 celcius +)

if msi is using good VRMs for that card i would int worry much about bumping the voltage also if u want to OC make sure powerplay is @ 20% and use MSI after burner also Disable AMD overdrive from CCC so things dont get mixed up

im pretty sure Gigabyte cheeped out on the VRMS for that card as i recall that u couldn't check the VRM temps for my card it was

recommended to keep the VRMS bellow 90C so i think it might be the same in your case even tho they are spouse to run hot OLD

vapor-x models had the VRMs running 120C LOL
