Can i combine 2 different ram cards?

Hey I currently have 4 gb of ram and thinking of buying a new ram. It comes in a dual kit so me and my friend are thinking to buy it 50 50 and we each take one stick but the problem is i don't know if i can combine my ram with the one im thinking to get. btw the one im thinking to get is this one http://www.corsair.com/en-us/vengeance-8gb-dual-channel-ddr3-memory-kit-cmz8gx3m2a1600c9 but i don't know the name of my current one but if you know a way how i can find out tell me.

Mixing DRAM is asking for problems - even two identical sticks from different packages - mixing a stick with another that you don't even know what it is - is really asking for trouble. Get the free app CPU-Z off the net and look in the SPD tab next to part number - that should be the sticks model #
