Before the problem began, I was attempting to download Watch_Dogs from steam but it kept failing due to an error that kept reading "Update Required". It took 10 content deletes and reboots before it finally started downloading. When I was absolutely sure that it was working, I left to have breakfast.

I came back an hour later to find that my computer had gone to sleep. Problem is that when this happens, I have to turn it of and turn it back on in order to get back to doing whatever I was doing. But that's when the problem began.

It showed the msi POST screen image and then the windows 8 logo like normal. But then a the screen went black and didn't show anything. I can't access safe mode but I can get into the bios.

I have checked every related post on this site and tried every suggestion. I don't think it can be my gpu that's causing this, but I suspect that my hard drive is responsible.

Need help fast! Can't handle game withdrawal!

EDIT:
Forgot to mention that for the last few days I've been getting a Memory Management error, not sure if it's related.

My specs are:
(P.S. I built the computer from an old 2007 T3612 eMachine from which I replaced a few choice parts)
Intel i5-4430 processor
msi B85M-P33 motherboard
GeForce GT610 2048MB DDR3 PCIE
(I kept the case, hard drive, and power supply that came with the eMachine since I was short on cash, and I also don't know what company manufactured them or their make and model.)

I've been having a similar problem with W7/W8/W8.1 with my setup. Current thread I just posted a few minutes ago at: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2503187/p9x79-pro-1pro-x64-black-screen-boot-hang-post.html

You might check the solutions I was given last summer on my first thread at that time - see http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2260041/p9x79-pro-installation-problems.html - to see if any of @The Kasafist's questions/suggestions might help you locate your problem?

Edit: FYI, my problem seems to be related to Windows Update which, btw, always includes an NVidia driver update as part of the very first batch of updates installed.

I'm having the same problem here, black screen after logo but on a Windows 7.

I'm running it on a SSD, I've already tried and re-installed windows on the SSD but didn't help me out, as soon as I install the nvidia drivers it goes back to black screen after logo startup. (I also have my own thread for this)

The next thing I'm going to try is to install windows on a HDD and see if the same problem occurs.

I know for a fact that my:

- GFX is working, I even have 2 of them and have used them both in the past.
- The motherboard works fine, onboard VGA works, latest BIOS working etc.
- My RAM haven't caused any problems.
- PSU, not too weak either.

I still think it's a Nvidia Driver problem or a Windows problem or a combination of both.
