It's not a big deal but when I boot up my pc for the first time every day, It boots into windows in the Windows 7 basic theme and is pretty slow going about it's business. However when I restart straight away it boots into the windows 7 aero theme and is fast again.

Also when im in windows 7 basic in my first boot I cannot switch it to aero.

How can I fix this?

Thanks

Ok a things to look at. Type services.msc in start search bar, scroll down and locate Desktop Window Manager Session Manager, in status make sure its set to automatic.

If it is then you need to open an elevated command prompt, to do this click start, all programs, Accessories then right click command prompt and run as administrator. A command prompt window will open. Type sfc /scannow and press enter (there is a space after sfc), note this may take time to finnish.

Ok its definatly not a problem with Windows, sorry for all the tests. We now need to test the RAM by burning memtest86 to a cd or a bootable USB stick then run it from boot (make sure the CD drive or USB drive is set to first boot device) http://www.memtest86.com/download.htm

You can also use the windows tool to test the RAM (its not as good as memtest but does the job) to do this open start and in the search bar type mdsched.exe and click the file, a pop up will come up asking if you want to reboot. When you PC boots it will show progress of the test and how many passes it has done, keep an eye out for any errors (it will tell you if there are any) If after 3 passes no errors then the RAM is fine.

Just be aware testing the RAM is time consuming so you PC will be out of action until its done. You dont need to sit with it as any errors will still be displayed. Once its done 3 passes you can cancel the test.
