im getting between 5-8mbs with my brand new N600 Wireless Dual Band PCI Express Adapter . I was getting 25mbs on my 2.4ghz adapter so why am i getting so low on my 5ghz wireless adapter ?
Then maybe the router needs to be tweaked. It is always best to set a unique SSID for the 2.4 and 5Ghz radios. "_5" is a common method of differentiating the two bands.
5Ghz signal does not penetrate through walls as well as 2.4Ghz. Unless you are in the same room with the router, it is quite possible you have a significantly lower signal from 5Ghz than 2.4Ghz.
You can always switch to 2.4Ghz (should be a different SSID) and see what your performance is.
