So I have a XFX R9 290 That gets extremely hot to at least 90 c. While playing black flag, mmm. Is there a way to cool it down so it wont smell like my computer is gonna catch on fire...lol. I have three 120mm system fans.. and well yeah.. I have two on top of the tower doing intake, and one on the rear doing intake as well.. let me know I can do please and thank you.

Solution
Yes its normal for this type of cooler to get up to 95C. The reference design cooler with R9 290 is terrible.
Other than replacing the cooler with a more efficient cooler, you could run the fans to 100% speed but that will lower the fans lifespan.

Oh alright since it's normal I guess I should not worry that it goes to 180 degrees.lol and shouldn't damage my computer if it does go that hot at on point..
Probably a recall product? :/

If it goes to 180C then that is an issue. If it is under 95C, it is within AMD's "safe" temps. No they won't recall these products as now they are less likely to be sold. most people will go for the non-reference cooler since they cool better. Example is the R9 290 Trix cooler or Gigabyte Windforce cooler.

OK well I guess my other option would be just getting another card. With actually cooling. I'll see if I can get rid of this one. And see where I go from there.

If you're feeling adventurous, you could try to install a different cooler on your R9 290.
