Hello, i need help.
I sold my GPU recently and are ready for the 9xx series. I am gaming on an Benq 144hz 1080p monitor. I wonder if i should get 2x geforce gtx 970 or go with one gtx 980 and upgrade something else, like custom water loop etc.... I can affort both of them and have a large enough PSU!

My current setup:
Corsair 750d (case)
Corsair RM850w (psu)
Intel Core i5 4690k OC to 4.2 on stock cooler, i know i need an aftermarket cooler!!!
16gb Hyperx 1866mhz (ram)
Gigabyte GA-Z97X-GAMING 3 (MoBo)
2x Samsung EVO 840 ssd 120gb in RAID 0
1tb WD Green
regular dvd drive

I`m playing games like BF4, CSGO, ARMA 3, DayZ, Rust, Far Cry 3 and soon GTA V.........
I have heard that 980ti are coming soon, like 22th January or something, should i wait until then?! and wait for sale? I live in Europe! Other things i could have changed??? WHat brand should i get, EVGA, MSI, GIGABYTE, ZOTAC, GAINWARD, ASUS or GALAXY? I want to play on high/ultra settings,

Thx for reading/helping me! :)

If you've got a 144Hz monitor, I'd definitely suggest a 970 SLI setup. It stomps a single 980, and should get your monitor to reach its max refresh rate in most games. It'll also beat the 980ti when it comes out (probably).

As far as brand, I've mostly seen Asus and MSI cards being used in SLI, probably since they're on the cooler side. You really can't go wrong with EVGA, MSI, Gigabyte or Asus. I'm not sure about the other brands you listed.

A big factor of your decision on brand is the look of the card. Pick something that is aesthetically pleasing to you, and if on the off chance you get a defective card, you can always exchange it.

Go for the dual 970's they will the 980 to shame and are great for 1440p monitors. Just 1 will out be more than enough for gaming on 1080p. Personally I would just buy the cards now because your not really going to now when the 980ti's come out. They have rumored released dates, but you just can't be sure until Nividia confirms a date. And as for what brand you should go for is depending on your own preferences, all of the different brands are great companies. Gigabyte seems to be the coolest running card out of them all, but also its a longer card then the rest. While Evga you can get a super clocked card that is a little big faster than the rest. All of the cards seem to be overclock around the same general area. If you want a really nice looking card I would go for the Nivida reference card that is only available through best buy, it has an green led on the side that lights up an it has a blower styled cooler.

Normally I would always suggest to get the best single card you can afford and upgrade that one later on to SLI if you need more power. This time I however would go with the GTX 970 SLI because it's only a few bucks more than a 980 and offers way better performance.

And no, the 980 Ti isn't coming on 22nd January. The 960 is going to be released at that date.
