i have a cable internet connection with a Thompson modem.
i have a dlink DIR-605L and a DLINK DIR-625

whats my ideal setup, i wanna have 1 wifi router on the main floor and 1 in the basement. I have 2 devices i wanna hard-wire in basement and this way i will have decent coverage for cellphones/tables.

does it matter which wifi router i use a a primary and or which would be better on the main floor? im not sure which is more powerful

also if i use the same ssid name will they work tohgether or they will just have the same name.....

i dunno if u should do lan wan or lan lan. and which do i change dchp and to what?

You can set the SSID the same, use different channels, with the same security settings (WPA2 + AES). You may or may not be able to roam from one AP to the other. Neither of those routers have an easy (one button) setting to make them an access point and neither are supported by DD-WRT firmware.
Which ever router you choose to hook to the modem, the OTHER one you want to set to an access point. There are instructions on DLINKs website.
The instructions on DLINK's website describe what to do for DHCP etc.

The DIR-625 is a pretty old model. There were reviews in 2008. I would recommend you buy a new router to be your primary router on the first floor and use the 605L as the second floor router. Retire the 625.
With a new primary router with gigabit LAN ports, you can run a single cable to the basement and add a switch to provide connectivity.
