Hello

I have a old pc with a q6600 cpu, 4g ram, and a GTX660.

I will doing gaming, RTS, MMO, FPS, etc and graphic design, 3D design and rendering, and video editing.

Should I up the ram to 8 gigs(max can go), and upgrade video card or should I just get a new system?

Hi there,

Depends on your budget and performance expectations.

The ram upgrade will get you up to par for today's demanding games, however the DDR2 memory is a tough pill to swallow in that it costs more per GB and can't be carried forward to a new build. I would not upgrade the video card with that CPU.

An i5-i7 with a new motherboard plus 8-16 GB of DDR3 with an SSD would be a good home for your GTX 660 until the upgrade bug bites again.

I will probably go with FX8350 or i74790k.
